Jody Benz of Des Moines Iowa wanted to help The Freedom Quilts project. She contacted the Capitol View Elementary school to see if they would like to be involved with a quilt project she had in mind. They were thrilled to be asked and very willing to help. There were 670 students in K-5 so the decision was made to make 6 quilts -- one from each grade.

So the students could have a memento of the Freedom Quilts project they helped with, Jody assembled a wall hanging made up of six blocks -- each one matches one of the blocks in each of the quilts. The wall hanging has been presented to the Capitol View Elementary school
