Dear Betty,
Thank you for the most beautiful quilt I have ever seen! I did receive it about a week ago sorry I did not write sooner, but for some reason I have felt like I am going down hill instead of up. I use my beautiful quilt everyday I cry, I sleep with it every night and look at it all the time. I can't Thank you enough for how beautiful you made it. I am still trying to read your letter you sent with the quilt, but that too is really difficult for me to do. I think you asked me why he didn't smile in his pictures. Well in the picture in the desert that was his first float ever and he might of had a half smile, but like her Mother we don't like to take pictures. His boot camp graduation picture they are not to smile, and the last picture well this was taken I would say a few days before I lost him. When I first saw this picture right away I saw something was wrong, I don't know how but I could tell something was so very wrong. I saw this after everything had happened. I look at other pictures of him and I see different thing too, like if he is was in pain or if was happy.
He had also kept a diary for his girl friend when he was gone out on floats, or in the War and one day he had said the he knew he was going to die he said he didn't know when or how just that he knew it would happen! My Son is so special to me and only me for ever and ever. I will try to have my daughter take a picture of me and my quilt and I will sent it to you. I hope I answered your questions for you and your friends. Like I said I am still trying to read your letter I can only read bites and pieces of it.
Thank you again and my God Bless all of you for ever!
Sincerely,
Nickolette M. Maxwell-Mother of-Sgt. Jason G. Maxwell USMC
