Senator Harkin came to Varina to visit with the Freedom Quilters. They showed him what each person did in every step of making a quilt. Senator Harkin was treated to a pot luck lunch provided by the ladies. After the lunch Senator Harkin and his staff were asked to put a few stitches into a quilt that will be sent to a little girl who lost her firefighter dad at 911.
